About Rye

Rye's front beach is on the bay and is good for family swimming and snorkelling, with a 300 metre pier and an underwater snorkel trail off it. It isn't patrolled. The foreshore has a wooden adventure playground with slides, a flying fox and climbing ropes.

Rye also has an ocean beach on Bass Strait, with clifftop walks. Gunnamatta, a surf beach at Fingal, is the one for surfers, and Beachsafe rates it very hazardous for swimming.
