About Sorrento

Sorrento is at the southern end of the Mornington Peninsula, just over an hour from Melbourne according to Visit Mornington Peninsula. Ocean Beach Road runs through the middle of town, with cafes, galleries and boutiques, and many limestone buildings. Lieutenant Collins tried to start Victoria's first permanent settlement near here in 1803, though it was abandoned after about a year.

The Coppins Track starts at Sorrento Ocean Beach and follows the clifftop to Diamond Bay, with views over Bass Strait. Moonraker and Polperro run dolphin swims from Sorrento Pier, and Aurora Spa and Bathhouse is inside the InterContinental Sorrento.

Two beaches and a ferry

The front beach faces the bay. It is sheltered and relatively safe for swimming, though you should swim away from the jetty and boat ramp, and it isn't patrolled. On the other side of town is the back beach, also called Ocean Beach, with rock pools at low tide and surf. Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club patrols it at busy times of year.

The car and passenger ferry to Queenscliff leaves from Sorrento. The crossing takes about 40 to 45 minutes, and the ferry runs every day of the year, including Christmas Day.

Our Sorrento homes include houses with private pools, a hot tub, and a grass tennis court at The Collins. The grid below shows every home we have in Sorrento today, with the ones we would book first at the top.
