Coolangatta, Kirra and the border

Coolangatta is the last town before New South Wales. Its beaches run from Kirra through Coolangatta Beach and Greenmount to Rainbow Bay, and end at Snapper Rocks, below Point Danger on the state border. Snapper is the start of the Superbank, a man-made sandbank that runs about two kilometres to Kirra and makes one of the best-known waves in the world. The Rainbow Bay Surf Club is a good place to watch it over a meal.

Gold Coast Airport is at Bilinga, next door. From RISE, our penthouse in Coolangatta, it is about four minutes by car, and from our Currumbin Waters and Palm Beach homes about 10. We worked these out from each home's location, with no traffic.

Burleigh Heads

Burleigh Head National Park is a wild headland in the middle of the Gold Coast, with walks along the rocky shore and through rainforest. Queensland Parks says you may see whales in spring and sea-eagles along the coast, and the Jellurgal Cultural Centre runs walks on the headland with a local Aboriginal guide. Check the park's page for track closures before you go.

Tallebudgera Creek is tucked in behind the southern side of the headland. Its water is flat, which suits young kids, paddle boards and kayaks, and Queensland's tourism site says lifeguards patrol it from September to May. Like any inlet, it can have strong currents.

Palm Beach, Currumbin and Miami

Palm Beach sits between Tallebudgera Creek and Currumbin Creek, with a wide, sandy beach and streets numbered from First Avenue to 28th. Next door, Currumbin has the beach at Currumbin Alley, the calm water of Currumbin Creek and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, a not-for-profit wildlife park with koalas and kangaroos. Miami is just north of Burleigh. Queensland's tourism site says this stretch of coast runs about 20 kilometres, from Mermaid Beach to Coolangatta.

The City of Gold Coast's lifeguards patrol 28 beaches all year, and more in peak season and the school holidays. Swim between the red and yellow flags. Queensland state school summer holidays run from 12 December 2026 to 26 January 2027, the busiest weeks here.

Our homes here range from penthouses with a private rooftop pool, RISE in Coolangatta and Riviera in Miami, to family homes with a pool in Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach and Currumbin Waters, two of them on the canals. The list at the top of this page shows every home we have here today.
