About Portsea

Portsea is the last village before Point Nepean. The Portsea Hotel, built in 1927, overlooks the pier, and the pier has two platforms for snorkelling, diving and fishing. Mornington Peninsula Shire says that in peak periods the drive from Melbourne can take up to two hours, so allow extra time in summer.

The front beach, Weeroona Bay, faces the bay and is usually calm. It has snorkelling and dive tours off the pier, plus bathing boxes. It isn't patrolled. The back beach faces the ocean, with surf and strong rips, and Beachsafe rates it 8 out of 10 for hazard. The surf club sits above the beach.

Point Nepean and what's on

Point Nepean National Park is 110 km from Melbourne. Fort Nepean has tunnels linking the old gun emplacements, and the Quarantine Station has about 50 heritage buildings. A shuttle runs between the entrance, the Quarantine Station and the fort every day except Christmas Day. Check Parks Victoria for closures first. The Farnsworth Track is a 1.5 km walk between Portsea Ocean Beach and London Bridge.

Portsea Polo is on Saturday 13 February 2027 at Point Nepean, for adults only. The Portsea Swim Classic is on Saturday 16 January 2027, and the Sorrento Bay Swim is the next morning.

Our Portsea homes are big houses for families and groups, with private pools and room for 14 or more. The grid below shows every home we have in Portsea today.
