Red Hill and Main Ridge sit in the hills in the middle of the Peninsula, among farmland, bush and vineyards. Visit Mornington Peninsula puts Red Hill about an hour and 10 minutes' drive from Melbourne, or 86 kilometres. Vineyards have been planted here since the 1970s, mostly cool-climate pinot noir and chardonnay, and many have a cellar door and a restaurant.
Ten Minutes by Tractor is in Main Ridge, Montalto is in Red Hill South and Pt. Leo Estate is down the hill at Merricks. Cherries, strawberries and apples are sold at farm gates in season. The Hill & Ridge Community Market is at Red Hill Recreation Reserve on the first Saturday of the month from September to May, and the Red Hill Show is there on Saturday 6 March 2027. The Arthurs Seat Eagle gondola runs from Dromana up to the summit, with views across the bay.
Flinders is a village on Western Port, first settled in 1854 and named after the explorer Matthew Flinders. It has old verandahed shops, cafes and galleries, a small yacht club and a 250 metre pier that is popular for fishing, and from the sheltered beach you look across to Phillip Island. Flinders Golf Club, more than 100 years old, sits on the clifftops. Visit Mornington Peninsula puts Flinders about an hour and 25 minutes from Melbourne, or 100 kilometres.
Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary is off Flinders Ocean Beach. At low tide the sea pulls back from a mushroom-shaped rock platform full of rock pools, and Parks Victoria says the best time is within two hours of low tide. Collecting shells or sea life isn't allowed. Up the coast, Balnarring Beach sits at the mouth of Merricks Creek, with a yacht club and a sandy foreshore with safe swimming.

Musk Creek in Flinders sleeps 16, with a pool and a tennis lawn among the bush. The Coast & Country Cottage is a black A-frame near Balnarring Beach, with an outdoor bath under the trees.
