The Commons, Coles and some of the coast's best cafes and restaurants are 300 metres away, Salt Beach Markets run on the third Saturday of the month, and Kingscliff and Cabarita are a few minutes up the road. Winter is the dry season with 21 degree days and whales running June to November, which makes the quiet months here better than most places' peak. Gold Coast Airport is 15 to 20 minutes away, close enough that a weekend away from Sydney actually works. Kingscliff and Cabarita are about 7 minutes by car and Byron Bay is 25 minutes south. Day to day you barely need the car: the beach path is at the front door and there are two Lekker pushbikes in the garage for the run to Salt Village or Kingscliff.
